West End Frame GUEST REVIEW – Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

I was recently once again given the honour of writing a Guest Review for the super marvellous WEST END FRAME. On this occasion, it was of my recent visit to the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane to see the original cast of CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, lead by the charismatic Douglas Hodge.

Take a look at my review here: –

Although the original cast have now finished and a new cast is currently settling into the Chocolate Factory, I have no doubt they will more than fill the very big shoes left by their predecessors. A fabulous show for the whole family!

PLAYING OUR PART "Mini-Interview" – Geronimo Rauch

Continuing our support of the fantastic PLAYING OUR PART, which will take place on 18th May at Cadogan Hall, London – the final of our “mini-interviews” is with a fantastic West End leading man!

After first gaining attention in the UK for his stunning performances as Jean Valjean in “Les Miserables” at the Queens Theatre, and now setting a new standard for powerful, heart-breaking performances as “The Phantom” in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Phantom of the Opera” – it is my honour to announce that my final interviewee is with the phenomenal GERONIMO RAUCH.

How did you get involved with Playing Our Part?

Nadim invited me to do the concert, and he spoke to me about the work done by Target Ovarian Cancer. I immediatelyhad to say ‘yes’!

What do you think the audience can expect from the concert?

It’s going to be a magical night, inspired by such a good cause. We will be surrounded by many wonderful people, an incredible orchestra and talented performers that I really admire.

How does it feel to be a part of such a versatile cast of performers – some of whom you know or have worked with before?

It feels exciting, and I can’t wait for the first rehearsal when I will get to listen to these incredible voices.

Can you tell us anything about what song you will be singing?

I’m singing a few, but I’m really looking forward to singing ‘The Prayer’ (made famous by Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion) with Olivia Brereton. I will also be singing one of my favourite musical theatre songs, ‘Bring Him Home’.

What do you think the legacy of Playing Our Part will be?

I think that this could be the first of many concerts to support Target Ovarian, and of course other important charities. I am proud to be part of it.

PLAYING OUR PART "Mini Interview" – Wendy Ferguson

Continuing our support of the fantastic PLAYING OUR PART, which will take place on 18th May at Cadogan Hall, London – the second of our “mini-interviews” is with a true Queen of the West End!

Probably best known for her role as Opera Diva Carlotta in “Phantom of the Opera“, and now bringing out her sinister yet lovable side as Madame Thenardier in “Les Miserables” – it is my honour to announce that my next interviewee is the marvellous WENDY FERGUSON.

How did you get involved with Playing Our Part?

Nadim Naaman asked me if I’d like to get involved. I thought about it for about 2 nanoseconds, and then I said yes!

What do you think the audience can expect from the concert?

I’ve seen the running order of the concert and there are some stunning songs in the programme – some really well known numbers alongside some lesser known gems. I honestly believe it will be a great concert.

How does it feel to be a part of such a versatile cast of performers – some of whom you know or have worked with before?

I feel very humbled to share the stage with the cast assembled for this concert. How lucky am I?! I’ve been fortunate to have performed with most of the singers and musical director before, and know how amazing everyone is, so you can be assured I’ll be enjoying the concert as much as the audience!

Can you tell us anything about what song you will be singing?

My solo is one that I have never sung in public before, but I felt that Playing Our Part was the perfect opportunity for me to finally share it with an audience. I can pretty much guarantee that everyone knows it, and I’m excited to get my soprano voice dusted off for the night! Is that vague enough?! Haha! I’m also singing a trio with the gorgeous Gillian Budd and Siubhan Harrison – if I can get through that without crying, it will be a miracle!

What do you think the legacy of Playing Our Part will be?

It’s tragic to think that only 3% of UK women are aware of the symptoms of ovarian cancer. It’s not a ‘silent killer’, and the charity Target Ovarian Cancer work to get the message out there as to what symptoms women can look for, alongside helping those fighting the disease. It’s an honour to celebrate the work the charity does, and I hope we raise awareness of both the disease and the charity.

You won’t find a lineup like this anywhere else!
